A nutraceutical is a product that is derived from food sources and is intended to provide additional health benefits in addition to the basic nutritional value found in the food. These products can include vitamins, minerals, and other dietary supplements, as well as functional foods and fortified foods. Nutraceuticals are often marketed as being natural and safe alternatives to traditional medications, and are generally considered to be a form of complementary or alternative medicine.
