THE USE OF ALCOHOL IN LIQUID HERBAL REMEDIES
Since water alone cannot absorb all the beneficial properties from plant materials, alcohol is used in the medicinal herbal field as an indispensable solvent. However, producing herbal tinctures spagyrically enables the properties.
Research shows that small amounts of alcohol provide the human body with several benefits that generally have been overlooked or underplayed. As a result, many people today believe that all alcohol is harmful to their health, and merely mentioning the word evokes a negative reaction. It is important to differentiate between the use of alcohol for medicinal applications and excessive drinking or alcohol abuse. In fact, the field of pharmacology, which studies the effects of foreign substances on the body, teaches that alcohol in small doses:
* has a stimulating effect on the vasomotor center of the heart, increases blood flow to the arteries and reduces coronary risk;
* benefits peripheral circulation;
* prevents water retention;
* increases secretion of the fundus gland in the stomach;
* increases the defensive capabilities of the immune system, and;
* lowers the carcogenicity of nitrosamines in foods.
WARNING: People with a history of alcohol abuse, psychiatric patients on medication and patients subject to seizures should not use products that contain alcohol.
HEALING REACTIONS
In addition, use of biological and homeopathic-spagyric therapy may in rare instances lead to a healing reaction caused by reactivation of the body's metabolic capabilities. This healing phenomenon does not usually occur with use of allopathic medications, such as antibiotics, since they intervene and sometimes halt the body's immune response.
Sometimes when a healing reaction occurs, it is normal to confuse this reaction and the accompanying symptoms -- such as mild fever, headache, discharge from the sinus passages or stiff, aching joints -- with an illness. However these type of symptoms often result from toxins lodged in the tissues that the body is able to excrete through the organs of elimination. Please keep in mind these type of healing reaction symptoms are temporary in nature.
Use of drainage remedies (the accompanying remedies that assist the organs of elimination) coupled with the intake of at least 2 to 3 quarts of liquids daily by adults will normally alleviate this healing reaction within a few days or prevent it from occurring.
IF SYMPTOMS PERSIST FOR MORE THAT 36 TO 48 HOURS or YOUR SYMPTOMS WORSEN - PLEASE CONTACT YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER OR ATTENDING PHYSICIAN.
DISPENSING PEKANA LIQUID HERBAL PRODUCTS
Once a program for remedy use has been written, it is important to decide how much of the tincture to dispense.
Here are some guidelines to help you:
* 1 tsp equals 100 drops
* ½ tsp equals 50 drops
* ¼ tsp equals 25 drops
* 1 ml equals 20 drops
* 1 ounce equals 600 drops
* 1 ounce equals 6 tsp
* For a 50 ml bottle of herbal tincture:
* if giving 1 tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 5 days.
* if giving ½ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 10 days.
* if giving ¼ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 20 days.
* If giving 10 drops 2 times per day, one bottle will last 50 days.
* For a 100 ml bottle of herbal tincture:
* if giving ½ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 20 days.
* if giving ¼ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 40 days.
* If giving 10 drops 2 times per day, one bottle will last 100 days.
* For a 125 ml bottle of herbal tincture:
* if giving 1 tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 15 days.
* if giving ½ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 30 days.
* if giving ¼ tsp 2 times per day, one bottle will last 60 days.
* For a 250 ml bottle of syrup:
* if giving 1 tsp 2 times per day, 1 bottle will last 25 days.
* If giving 2 tsp 2 times per day, 1 bottle will last 12 days.
* The 50 and 100 ml bottles contain a special inner cap that emits one drop at a time. If measuring the remedies by pouring into a measuring spoon, it is more convenient to remove the inner cap. If this cap is removed, the remedy will then leak if laid down on its side. You cannot remove the inner cap, then throw the remedies into luggage or a purse. They will make a mess.
* Some remedies, specifically Apo-Hepat, have a resinous ingredient that can be an adhesive as it dries. Sometimes, the inner cap will stick to the inside of the outer cap. If this happens, screwing off the cap will automatically remove the drip spout, and if you don’t notice this, you may pour the entire contents of the bottle into your glass of water without intending to do so.
* Always look before pouring.
* The outer cap on the 50 and 100 ml bottles can be used as a ½ tsp measure. If the cap is filled so that it is not brimming with liquid, the edge of the liquid is at the lip of the cap, and the meniscus of the fluid is just below the lip of the cap, this equals ½ tsp.
* Some of the ingredients in the spagyric herbal tinctures can be damaged by prolonged contact with metal. Momentary contact, such as pouring the remedy into a metal measuring spoon, is not a problem. Putting the remedies into a metal cup, then letting them sit for hours, could reduce the effectiveness of the herbal preparation.
